The performance Hannah or the Necessity is a contemporary dance–vocal–instrumental recital dedicated to all victims of the Holocaust.
It is based on the thesis about the banality of evil by the renowned German philosopher and political theorist of Jewish origin, Hannah Arendt.
In exploring her fundamental question—what is the nature of the evil that one human inflicts upon another—we have sought to make the message of this performance relevant to our present moment.
Following the idea that evil arises from thoughtlessness, the performance invites us to resist it by beginning to think, where thought becomes an attempt to see the world through the eyes of another.

In addition to texts by Hannah Arendt, the performance incorporates traditional Jewish dances, as well as Sephardic, Ashkenazi, and spiritual Jewish songs, performed live by the actors in both vocal and instrumental forms.
